  The City of Bismarck recently undertook a grant-funded historical survey of the "South Capitol" neighborhood, from N 4th Street to N 6th Street, between E Ave A and Boulevard Ave. Emily Sakariassen of South Fork Historical Research documented 182 properties for the project, analyzing available information to see if the area has potential to become a historic district. Sakariassen will present her findings and share some of the interesting stories uncovered through her research.

• Venturing with the Vanguard: the Voices of Sarah Campbell and York

  Step into history through an evening of live Chautauqua performance and conversation.  The Bismarck Historical Society is partnering with The Study and Bringing Humanities to Life at BSC under an ND250 grant to host a special event featuring nationally recognized living history scholars Joyce Jefferson and Marvin Jefferson, with guest moderator Dr. Larry Skogen.  Scholars will be portraying two remarkable figures connected to the American West and the Northern Plains: Sarah Campbell and York.
